Kay practices with a collaborative agreement, under Dr. Moises Gaviria, diagnosing and treating adults and older adults with prescriptive authority. She specializes in working with cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease. It is not uncommon for a family member of someone suffering from these disorders to schedule their own appointment with her to help with stress and anxiety. Family members caring for a loved one with dementia are often overwhelmed, and sometimes depressed. By receiving education and support, the family member can learn effective coping strategies to continue to care for their loved one, access caregivers to assist, or help them to find a long term facility.
In addition to clinic practice, Kay sees residents at Smith Crossing, Sunrise, and Tinley Courts. As such, she is a resource to staff members at those facilities. She is also a consultant for Great Lakes Caring home care, providing staff education.
Kay is accepting new patients for medication management, and is able to provide supportive therapy when necessary. She works with patients to create the most supported environment possible to allow for patients to develop effective coping methods for when life becomes stressful.
